{"id":1159,"date":"2016-12-26T19:05:26","date_gmt":"2016-12-26T19:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/estudiocescas.iecs.org.ar\/en\/novedades\/"},"modified":"2020-11-02T18:01:00","modified_gmt":"2020-11-02T18:01:00","slug":"novedades","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/estudiocescas.iecs.org.ar\/en\/novedades\/","title":{"rendered":"News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">NEWS<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Ideal Cardiovascular Health in the southern cone of Latin America\u00a0 \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/sdfestaticassets-us-east-1.sciencedirectassets.com\/prod\/171d53a2bee88b52a2c8bc0a9dc8c8f904cf47c5\/image\/elsevier-non-solus.png\" alt=\"Elsevier\" width=\"94\" height=\"103\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Ideal Cardiovascular Health includes seven favourable cardiovascular behaviours and health factors.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Behaviours include smoking, body mass index, physical activity and diet.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Health factors include total cholesterol, blood pressure and glycaemia.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Only one from 5458 participants from Southern Cone of Latin America accomplished all seven criteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><br \/>\nThe American Heart Association developed the concept of \u2018Ideal Cardiovascular Health\u2019, which is based on the presence of ideal levels across seven health factors. However, population-based data in South America are limited. This study determines the prevalence of<br \/>\nreligiosity and explores its association with depression in four cities of the Southern cone of<br \/>\nLatin-America. In the CESCAS I study 7524 participants aged between 35 and 74 years old<br \/>\nwere recruited between 2011 and 2012 from randomly selected samples in 4 cities (Bariloche and Marcos Paz, Argentina; Temuco, Chile; and Pando-Barros Blancos, Uruguay).<\/p>\n<p>Link to the publication:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1371\/journal.pone.0226622\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1371\/journal.pone.0226622<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How is alcohol consumption associated with cardiovascular risk in the general population?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uruguay &#8211; April 28, 2020 &#8211; It is known that excessive alcohol consumption is associated with a considerable burden of disease in the population as it is linked to different types of health risks. April 4, 2017 \u2013 CESCAS entered into a memorandum agreement with Marcos Paz City Hall to acknowledge their intention to continue with epidemiological study CESCAS I, which has been conducted in Marcos Paz since 2009. December 30, 2016 \u2013 The variability in the response to some pathogens and drugs depends partly on population genetics. In order to conduct in-depth studies and promote precision medicine, CONICET, ANLIS (National Administration of Health Institutes and Laboratories), and three national universities launched PoblAR, a genomic biobank.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9521 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iecs.org.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/15732361_1120789401371218_7493042592384918448_o-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"15732361_1120789401371218_7493042592384918448_o\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yesterday, IECS led this initiative by moving more than 130 blood, serum, and plasma samples to the ANLIS-Malbr\u00e1n biocontainment center. These samples had been taken as part of the CESCAS I study, a population-based epidemiological study to assess the incidence of chronic diseases and their risk factors in 7,500 Southern Cone adults.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting, the audience was addressed by Mr. Adolfo Rubinstein, IECS Managing Director and Head of the CESCAS Department; Mr. Miguel \u00c1ngel Laborde, Vicechairman of CONICET; and Mr. Carlos Ubeira from ANLIS. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Fernando Althabe, Dr. Vilma Irazola, and Dr. Andr\u00e9s Pich\u00f3n Riviere (all IECS members); Dr. Claudia Perandones and Mariana Berenstein (PoblAr); and officers from<a href=\"http:\/\/www.msal.gob.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Argentina\u2019s Department of Health<\/a>, CONICET, and ANLIS.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div id=\"titlebar\" class=\"titlebar-37hrndpnni cover\">\n<div class=\"container relative\">\n<div id=\"titlebar-text\" class=\"no-breadcrumb\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>CESCAS took part in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> International Conference on Cardiovascular Epidemiology <\/u><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Argentina, Buenos Aires.
